Day 1 Monday  - May 8, 2017 - Continued

After crossing in British Columbia yesterday through the Sumas, Wa. border we headed to our first stop -- Tim Horton's to get a box of 12 assorted donuts and a box of 20 TimBits!!  NOW we are ready to head east on Highway 1.  This road is very familiar to us since we have traveled that numerous times and we continued on past the familiar parts towards Hope.  We passed through 7 tunnels on the way to Yale .

The scenery between home and further North is absolutely breathtaking.  The mountains so very beautiful and display the handiwork of God.

We were in Ashcroft about 3:30 and the scenery has changed a lot - it is very arid and dry, so many irrigation systems and a lot of cattle and feed lots in this area.  There are also a LOT of horses and we saw several rodeo grounds.

One thing we noticed that as we got closer to 70 Mile House the trees were getting very sparse - something that I just never thought about.  I have always assumed that all of British Columbia was loaded with trees.  I guess one is never too old to learn.

At 5 PM we were near 100 Mile House, where we filled up with petrol!!  53.9 liters at 1.209 per liter which equates to about $5 US per gallon!!!

We continued on through Quesnel and on up to Prince George!  By this time it was 9:00 PM and I was more than ready for a bed!!  We stayed at a nice motel there and shared a plate of Chinese food at a nearby restaurant.

So sorry I haven't figured out the picture thing--- maybe tomorrow it will work better!!
